Student Given Award for Green Line
From small-town Ames to the big city of New York, Danielle Sponder, senior in apparel merchandising, design and production, found herself surrounded by some of biggest names in the fashion world - the "people you only dream of meeting." The FSF Geoffrey Beene Fashion Scholarship was established to award money to talented young design students, but even the big guns came out last night for the award ceremony and dinner at the Mariott Marquis Hotel. Zac Posen, Home Shopping Network's Mindy Grossman, and Les Steiger of Macy's were honored with awards. The night, emceed by Tim Gunn, brought out the likes of Iman and Patricia Field (who both presented awards) and supporters like Francisco Costa, Molly Sims, Mary Alice Stephenson, and Richie Rich. The Family Violence Prevention Fund (FVPF) - the nation's leading organization working to prevent domestic, dating and sexual violence and protect adult and child victims - has teamed up with Geoffrey Beene Gives Back™ to offer Americans a novel way to give back to a great cause during challenging economic times.
In support of the RESPECT! CampaignSM, Geoffrey Beene Gives Back™ today announced that starting on Monday, November 10, it will donate $5 to the FVPF every time individuals offer an "act of respect" on the campaign's site, GiveRespect.org, up to a total $500,000 through December 31. Read more

2008 Geoffrey Beene Cancer Research Center Retreat
The Cancer Biology and Genetics Program and the Human Oncology and Pathogenesis Program held their first joint retreat on May 9 and 10, 2008, at the Skytop Lodge in Skytop, Pennsylvania.
